All Good Things Must Come To An end…….wherein comes a new beginning!

I feel so much joy right now in my writing. I conquered my Writer’s Block and actually rewrote my manuscript (something I almost never do!) and I am now beginning my third editing pass. Editing passes become faster with each edit for me. Things are on schedule. My fourth pass will be the last. next month I’ll be ordering a new book cover and I’ll do a cover reveal to my subscribers so make sure you are on the email list! I will also be posting a fourth chapter here on my website on Monday. If you haven’t already subscribed there are three free chapters that you can access if you are a subscriber - another reason to get on the mailing list!

It feels good to overcome problems and finish a project. There was once a time a few years ago when I despaired of ever finishing Mission: Future Fantastic. I thought to myself: “I can’t criticize George R. R. Martin anymore because I’ve done the same thing to my own readers.” I’d lost motivation and didn’t know how to get my writing mojo back.

I do feel a little sad that this current story has come to an end. I loved this series; I loved writing it and Robert Astor (Bob for short) is one of my favorite characters. I patterned him somewhat off of John Carter from the Barsoom series of long ago. Burroughs, like Tolkien and Herbert are foundational authors for me. I read them in childhood and young adulthood and they have always informed my writing and creative inspiration. it feels as if I’m saying goodbye for the last time to a loved one, in a way.

But enough of that! Now, I get to dive into a brand new science fiction series that I plan to write later this year, which is always exciting! I’m already creating an outline and the basic structure for the first book. So, look for Mission: Future Fantastic to come out in either August (early) or September (on time).

Goodbye, Robert Astor. Hello, Jonas Johnson! Happy writing!
